On May 24th, Shenzhen University signed the cooperation agreement with the Russian Academy of Sciences Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, AP Ershov Institute of Information Systems, and the Novosibirsk State University in the meeting room 201 of the office building. At the same time, the unveiling ceremony of Sergei Goncharov Academician Workstation was also held. Qingquan Li, President of Shenzhen University, Chen Xu, Vice President of Shenzhen University, Mikhail Fedoruk, President of Novosibirsk State University, Sergei Goncharov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, Andrew Palyanov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the AP Ershov Institute of Information Systems, Chief Scientist Victor Selivanov, and Farid Ablaev, Director of the Department of Statistics and Computational Mathematics at Kazan Federal University, attended the meeting. Joshua Zhexue Huang, Distinguished Professor of College of Computer Science and Software Engineering and the Director of the Big Data Institute, presided over the meeting.
The signing of the cooperation agreement marks a new starting point for the cooperation between Shenzhen University and Russia's top universities and scientific research institutions. After signing the agreement, the four parties to the agreement will establish a Sino-Russian International Joint Research Center at Shenzhen University to conduct cooperative research in the cross-fields of mathematics, statistics, data science and artificial intelligence, focusing on mathematical and statistical issues in the fields of data science, and artificial intelligence. It strives to make major breakthroughs in basic research such as mathematical theories and statistical principles in artificial intelligence, statistical problems, and computational problems in data science and lay a theoretical foundation for original technological innovation. The joint research center strives to be recognized as a national-level international joint research center within 3 to 5 years.
